On 26 September we experienced a day that was as unique and singular as our own water. It was the day on which we opened the new Vilajuïga water plant. It was a relaxed, intimate and affectionate occasion, in which many emotions were felt. Anecdotes were told about past experiences in the water industry and visits were made to the new facilities. These included the renovated former home of the Ramon family, which is now a space for musical performances; the new bottling plant; the iconic Escaire well; and the old well that has now been transformed into the new Mystery Space.
The event began with a simple yet emotional opening ceremony at the Mystery Space, led by Joan Fornós (Managing Director of Vilajuïga) and Víctor Grifols Deu (Deputy CEO of Grifols), who warmly ushered in our hopes and plans for the future. Afterwards, guided by the culinary collective La Cuina del Vent, we were able to enjoy some superb examples of our award-winning Empordà cuisine.
The festivities were rounded off by the magical touch of the always-surprising Jordi Roca (El Celler de Can Roca), with a series of commemorative desserts that were not only a veritable explosion of creativity and talent, but also represented a perfectly interpreted allegory. The desserts’ ingredients included water from Vilajuïga, and like our water, they also guarded a unique and singular mystery – not to mention a certain amount of fizz.
